Abstract

Tokyo, the capital of Japan, which was abandoned after the defeat, collapsed after a period of high economic miracle and fell into a long-term economic stagnation of "lost decade". It has played a role as a target center. Miyuki Miyabe, a Japanese social mystery writer, has published a number of works dealing with various social issues caused by the bursting of the bubble economy and the long-term recession against the backdrop of Tokyo. In particular, the Naoki Prize-winning masterpiece Reason often shows the Tokyo cityscape, where modern high-rise condominiums and traditional downtown areas coexist. The two spaces that exist in Tokyo have always been coexisting and confronting each other, and have continued to this day. As the metropolis of Tokyo moves forward for the cause of economic growth, downtown Tokyo has protected the important value that modern society is losing. This work gives modern people who have experienced the bursting of the bubble economy in the "large city" Tokyo and are living in the turmoil of the "lost decade" the potential healing power of the "small city" Tokyo.
