결혼 이주여성의 사회문화 네트워크의 특성: 보은과 양평을 사례로

최근 한국에서 국제결혼 이주가 빠르게 증대되면서 한국사회는 다문화사회로 변화하고 있다. 해외로부터 결혼 이주여성의 증대는 농촌의 소외, 혼혈아동 증대, 문화의 혼성, 지역 정체성 변화 등에 관한 다양한 관심을 불러일으키고 있다. 본 연구의 목적은 다양한 공간스케일에서 이주여성의 사회적 네트워크의 특성과 초국적 민족문화 네트워크의 특성을 파악하는 것이다. 본 연구의 결과, 이주여성들은 비교적 빠르게 한국사회에 적응하고 있었으나, 이주여성들의 사회활동은 상당히 제한되고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 대부분의 이주여성들은 가족 및 친구를 통해 사회적 네트워크를 형성하고 있었으며, 이들의 민족문화 네트워크는 초국적인 특성을 반영하고 있었다. 농촌지역에서 이주여성은 지역사회의 일원으로서 능동적인 역할이 필요하며, 이를 위해 농촌사회에서 다문화공동체의 활성화가 요구된다.
Abstract
In recent years, a rapid increase of international marriage migrants has affected the coming of multicultural society in Korea. Increased female marriage migrants from overseas towards the rural areas derived several social issues such as social exclusion, racial mixture, cultural hybridity and regional identity change. The aims of this research are to reveal the characteristics of social networks of female marriage migrants and to explain their characteristics of transnational ethnic-culture networks in various spatial scales. The results arisen from this study show that female marriage migrants were fastly adapting into Korean society, but their social activities were quite limited. Most of their social networks were confined to the relationships formed by family and their friends, but their ethnic-cultural networks reflected on the characteristics of transnationalism. This research clearly suggests the necessity in the changes of the rural area towards multicultural society with the positive community participations of female marriage migrant in social activities.
