본 논문은 도시 내부에서 기개발쇠퇴지역(brownfield)을 녹지공간으로 전환하고 있는 점에 초점을 맞추어 도시재생의 관점에서 기존의 노후된 기반 시설을 녹지공간으로 재생하고 재창조하는 의미와 여러 사례를 분석하였다. 문헌연구를 통하여 도시 내 녹지공간의 창조를 통한 도시녹화의 효과와 이와 관련된 도시녹화 사업의 쟁점을 정리하였고, 폐기된 육상교통노선을 하나의 녹지공간으로 창조하여 활용하고 있는 파리, 뉴욕, 시드니, 광주를 사례지역으로, 답사를 통해 도시내 녹색공간의 창조와 활용방안을 모색하고 시사점을 도출하였다. 도시 녹화에서 다양한 지역특성의 반영, 이해당사자간의 조정 및 민관 파트너십에 기초한 민간주도형 추진이 사례지역 전반에서 중요한 요인으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study attempts to examine the meaning of the conversion from brownfields into green spaces from the viewpoint of urban renewal as well as to investigate case studies about old railway conversion in Paris, New York, Sydney and Gwangju. The literature review clarifies the benefits and opportunities of urban greening and summarizes the major issues related to urban greening projects. The field survey draws out general suggestions for creation and applications of urban green space in the case of Paris, New York, Sydney and Gwangju. It suggests that regional identity, coordination of stakeholder, public-private partnership would be major factors for urban greening.
