낙후지역 도시들의 성장과 발전에 필요한 요인들에 대한 분석: 한국 낙후지역의 전략도시들을 사례로

초록

본 연구는 국가균형발전정책의 일환으로 한국의 낙후지역에 지정된 세종시, 혁신도시, 기업도시 등 전략도시들의 성장과 발전을 위해 필요한 조건들을 분석해 보았다. 이를 위해 먼저 군집분석을 이용하여 한국도시체계 내의 77개 도시들을 대상으로 이들 전략도시들이 한국도시체계 안에서 어떤 상태에 있는지를 분석해 보고 이들 도시들에서 충분한 수준으로 제공되지 못하는 성장요인들이 어떤 것이 있는지를 확인하여 범주화하였다. 발전과 성장을 설명할 수 있는 요인들은 한국 낙후지역의 도시환경에서 일반적으로 필요한 여건들과 도시의 성장여건을 토대로 몇몇 집단으로 유형화한 각각의 도시 군들에 대해 개별적으로 보완되어야 할 요소들로 구분된다. 논문에서는 분석의 결과를 토대로 전략수립대상도시 일반에 대한 고려요소들과 도시유형별 고려요소들이 논의되었다.

Abstract

This study discusses the conditions required for the growth and development of the strategic cities designated for the balanced national development in the peripheral regions of Korea. The cluster analysis is conducted on the 77 cities in the Korean urban system for understanding the current status of those strategic cities in the Korean urban system and also for categorizing factors that are insufficiently supported in those cities. Factors explaining the growth and development are twofold: (1) general factors that are common in the Korean urban environment in the peripheral regions and (2) factors specific to individual city groups classified based on the similarities in conditions required for urban growth. This study discusses a few considerations for the strategic cities in general and the ones specific to individual strategic city groups based on the results of the analysis.
