루터 신학에서 발견되는 ‘종교/신학의탈정치화’의 모순적/역설적 변명에 관한 연구

본 논문은 교회와 목사가 정치에 대해 어떤 입장을 가지는 것이 종교개혁신앙을 계승하는 것인가에 관심이 있다. 왜냐하면 정교분리(政敎分離)가 이념에 따라, 또는 입장에 따라, 또는 취향에 따라 주장(主張)도 되고 거부(拒否)도 되기때문이다. 이를 밝히기 위해 종교개혁의 주창자였던 루터, 개신교의 시발점이었던 그는 어떤 입장이었는지를 살펴보려고 한다. 그런데 본 논문은 교회/목사/신학이 정치와 무관해야 한다는 그의 주장에 의문을 품는다. 글쓴이로서는 그의주장이 역설과 모순으로 읽혀지기 때문이다. 이는 그의 많은 글들에서 발견되는바다. 그의 글들 중 다음의 4개의 글, ‘세상 권력: 어느 정도까지 복종해야 하나’ ‘독일 그리스도인 귀족들에게 보내는 글’ ‘교회의 바벨론 감금’ ‘군인들도 구원을받을 수 있는가’를 통해서도 충분히 발견할 수 있다. 그래서 이 글들을 살펴 본후, 우리의 이야기인 한국 교회 현실을 통해 ‘루터의 신학이 과연 탈정치적일 수있는가’와 더불어 ‘우리가 하는 신학과 신학행위가 탈정치적일 수 있는가’에 답할것이다. 분명한 것은 본 논문은 종교/신학의 탈정치화 주장에 대해 회의적이고비판적이다. 세상에는 정치적이지 않은 것이 없기 때문이다. 이렇게 본 논문은루터가 신학/신앙의 탈정치화를 선언했다고 주장하는 것들에 대해 의심을 갖기때문에 이 의심의 논거를 통해 교회와 신학은 정치를 말하거나 정치적 행동을하는 것이 당연하다는 주장을 하려고 한다.
Abstract
This research examines how a church and a pastor should treat politic in a way of inheriting reformed confession, because the separation of church and state can be asserted or rejected according to an ideology, a stance, and a preference. To clarify this, this study delves into the stance of Luther who was a starting point of protestant and a strong advocate of reformation. To begin with, the research doubts on his thought that a church, a pastor, and a theology must be irrelevant to a politic, because there are paradoxes and contradictions in his writings such as: ‘Secular authority: To what extent it should be obeyed’, ‘An open letter to the Christian nobility’, ‘The Babylonian captivity of the church’, and ‘Whether soldiers, too, can be saved’. After studying these writings, this study answers to the question of “Can the theology of Luther be apolitical?” and “Can our ‘being theology’ and ‘doing theology’ be apolitical?” by examining the reality of the Korean church. This research criticizes on the opinion that Luther had declared the apoliticalization of theology and faith, but it argues that a church and the theology must do and speak about the politics.
