1990년대 이후 한국교회의 지나친 교회성장주의는 수많은 개척교회들을 무분별하게 양산하여 심각한 재정적, 수적 양극화 현상을 초래하였다. 아무런 대책없이 목회현장에 내몰린 수많은 젊은 목회자들은 어쩔 수 없이 교회 개척으로나아가고, 자립에 실패한 교회들이 교회를 폐쇄하거나 이전하는 현상이 비일비재하게 일어나고 있다. 그 결과는 교회에 대한 사회적 불신으로 나타나고 있다. 교회 안에 자성과 갱신의 목소리가 없는 것은 아니지만, 교회의 위기를 바로 진단하고 대응하는 모습을 보이지 않고 있다. 여전히 다수의 교회와 교회지도자들은교회성장주의와 교권에만 관심을 기울이고 있다. 그러므로 이 글은 한국교회의 재정문제점들의 해결책과 그 극복방안을 베버의<개신교윤리와 자본주의 정신>에 나타난 사상을 통하여 찾아보고자 한다. 이를위해 먼저 한국교회의 재정문제의 현황을 살펴본다. 이어 오늘날 자본주의 사회에서 한국교회의 재정문제가 베버가 드러낸 현세적 금욕주의라는 자본주의 정신에 어떻게 대립되고 있는가를 살펴보려한다. 마지막으로 베버의 합리적인 경영방식에 맞는 자본이용과 금욕주의적 자본주의정신이 현재 한국교회의 재정의 불투명성 문제 해결을 위한 하나의 사회, 윤리적 방안을 제시하고자 한다.
Abstract
The excessive growth centeredness of Korean church has pushed many young pastors to plant new churches and it has caused the serious financial and numerical polarization of church since the 1990s. This trend of church planting has made pastors start new churches without any appropriate measures for survival. Almost of them have failed to manage their churches financially independent, so, they have closed the churches inevitably. The social distrust of Korean church has expended seriously due to the result of this phenomenon. More seriously, the majority of Korean churches and church leaders are still focusing on the church growth and clericalism as they are ignoring the voices for the reformation of the church. Therefore, this article seeks to find a way to overcome this financial issue of Korean Church through the thoughts of Weber. First, this research looks around the current financial issues of Korean Church. Second, it delves into how the current financial issue of Korean Church in this capitalistic society opposes the idea of Weber’s spirit of capitalism and worldly asceticism. Finally, this paper proposes a social ethical solution for this financial issue of Korean Church as concentrating on Weber’s ascetic spirit of capitalism and his ideas of reasonable capital management.
