북한이탈 청소년들의 학습경험 및 정체성 재구성에 대한 내러티브 탐구

이 연구는 북한이탈 청소년들의 남한사회에서의 중‧고등학교 및 직장생활 경험에 대한 내러티브를 통해, 그들의 삶의 역사성 안에서 구성되는 학습과 정체성의 의미를 생애적 관점에서 도출하고자 하였다. 북한이탈 청소년들은 삶을 포괄적으로 배운 학교경험을 자신의 삶에서 가치 있는 것으로 평가하였다. 현재의 직장 생활 경험 속에서 과거와 미래의 삶을 연결하였고 자신들의 미래를 긍정적으로 전망하였다. 북한이탈 청소년들은 극적인 삶의 경험 속에서 스스로 배우는 능동적인 학습자의 능력을 획득했으며, 모방, 관찰, 비판적 해석이라는 학습 기제를 활용하여 남한사회에 적응하였다. 이러한 학습과정을 통해, 북한이탈 청소년들은 탈북자라는 자신들의 정체성에 탄력적인 의미를 부여하였다. 개인적 차원에서는 경계를 넘나드는 공간이동을 통한 자기 존재감의 변화를 있는 그대로 인정하면서, 집단적 차원의 다중적인 정체성에 대해서는 국가 개념보다는 지역적 개념으로 해석함으로써, 자신들의 정체성을 보다 유연하고 자유롭게 재구성하였다.
Abstract
This paper examines how young North Korean immigrants interpret their learning and working experiences in South Korea. In this paper, the researcher tries to figure out the meaning of their learning and identity, which are reconstructed within the context of their lives. Young North Korean immigrants consider that their school experiences are highly valuable in their lives. They also have positive prospects on their future. These young people acquire the ability of self-directed learning through their varied and dramatic experiences. They adapt to South Korea communities by using their learning strategies including imitation, observation, and critical interpretation. Young North Korean immigrants have a higher degree of flexibility in building up or modifying their identity as defectors in a new community, configuring their transnational and local identity.
