초록

This paper is to identify patterns of delexicalized verbs in movie scripts and their meaning constructing ways. The study aims to examine the structural and semantic patterns to build up the meaning after delexicalized verbs lose their meaning. To find phrasal patterns of delexicalized verbs, this study examines The Ides of March, Tuesdays with Morrie, and A Beautiful Mind. This study also aims to provide an overview of research in the field of meta-cognitive program to let the learners analyze pattern structures in the movie scripts. The comparisons between experimental group and control group gave a meaningful result. Upon examination, this study can give the insight that structure pattern in authentic materials can provide learners to find more creative and specific idea of how words co-occur. The study demonstrated the relevance of delexical verbs with other words, the problematic features related to learning delexcial verbs, ways to make patterns from delexical verbs collected from real context, and ideas of improvement for teaching delexical verbs. An analysis teaching of delexicalised phrases can offer a positive prospective to teach English structure with movie scripts. There are implications for the emergence of meta-cognitive knowledge about delexcialized verb phrases in movie scripts.
