초록

This paper attempts to examine the current situation and future trend of consumption behavior in Mongolia and Korea, which are moderately divergent in their economic development. The paper also delineates the patterns of consumption reflecting the prevailing forces that affect consumer behavior in the two countries. The results of the comparative study can be used for formulation of policy for a macro-level orientation and for management decision making at the micro level. In this regard, this study presents and analyzes a model for consumer behavior of Mongolia and Korea, attempting to include the following features. For the macro-level orientation, policy makers will recognize the model as a solution for developing demographic policy, revealing the potential for increasing income, decreasing the gap between unequal income groups’ living and health care, analyzing commodity supply and demand issues, controlling prices, developing international relations, and trade policy. For the micro level, firm decision makers will recognize the framework as strategic marketing in the sense that the formulation is based on an explicitly-portrayed interrelationship of all demand variables in a consistent way. This study attempted to research an elasticity analysis of consumer goods of the two countries, in order to examine the data potential for building an AIDS model of for further research. While the Korean data seems to lead to a plausible conclusion, the Mongolian data shows some problems for building the model. In that sense this paper is halfway through the work. Nevertheless, the paper makes an attempt to identify consumption behavior and to delineate the prevailing forces that affect the change in consumption behavior in Mongolia and Korea. The current research outcomes would contribute to the solution of challenging issues for market agents in the two countries.
