초록

This article is focused on images of Soviet women in the Stalin era (1928-1953), especially 1930s, i.e. the period of “building socialism”. It was from around 1930 that the female form came to the fore. Female figures, the most backward and oppressed element of prerevolutionary society, could most vividly demonstrate the contrast between the old and the new. The first part is concerned with various images of women struggling against the old byt (daily life) in the First Five Year Plan and agricultural collectivization. The second part deals with images of women in commercial advertisements of the second half of 1930s. Analysing and considering these images, the present writer tries to reveal the nature of gender politics in Stalinism.

The second part deals with images of women in commercial advertisements of the second half of 1930s. Analysing and considering these images, the present writer tries to reveal the nature of gender politics in Stalinism.
