This paper aims to search for a spirituality of neo-shamanism in the Mongolian novel, The Shamanic Legend, written by Gun Ayurzana. This novel explores topics such as the shamanic journey, shamanic principle for altering consciousness, shamanic cosmology, and the origin and goals of the neo-shaman spirituality. Reflecting and narrating author’s own experiences at the Lake Baikal and Olkhon Island for seven years, he describes many facets of the complex cultural phenomenon and its relevance to human sufferings. In the novel, the author emphasizes the ability to enter the shaman state of consciousness with the self-constitutive interaction and awakening process through the two main figures-Tenggis and Hagguidae. The main characteristics of neo-shaman spirituality of the novel can be summarized into five themes: tocophilia spirituality, self-subjective ASC, self-transformation and illuminating spirituality, awakening of the godhead, and the socio-political resistance.
