초등학교 특수교사를 대상으로 한 미술치료 인식 조사 및 개선방안 연구

Abstract

This study identified the operation status of art therapy in elementary special education sites, to study the special education teachers' perceptions of art therapy among students subject to special education and analyze those perceptions to identify an improvement plan. For this, a survey was conducted on a total of 130 teachers from elementary schools in Seoul and Incheon, and 111 completed surveys were used as data. According to the study, teachers are aware of art therapy and feel that art therapy is necessary for psychological relaxation and emotional stability, but such therapy has rarely been performed in elementary school special education. The surveyed teachers reported it being difficult to hire therapists with proper qualifications for art therapy to be implemented in schools, and that it is difficult to implement art therapy in schools due to financial problems or lack of expertise in terms of the operation of the curriculum. The results of this study suggest that presenting improvements in art therapy requires administrative and financial support and a dedicated art therapist in education with expertise. The findings also show that it is necessary to improve awareness of art therapy through various promotions. This study informed the operation status of art therapy and the awareness of the art therapy among special education teachers at elementary special education sites. Limitations of this study and suggestions for further study were also both addressed. It is anticipated that the art therapy will be necessary and be the basis for entering the educational field.
