In summary, when narrating historical events and historical figures, the author of Zuo-zhuan(左傳) did not take into account its historical value, but payed attention to making the story vivid and interesting and describing in detail what happened. These fictional elements not only influenced later Chinese novels, but also provided important inspiration and reference for later Chinese novels. The historical biography literature produced at that time is probably the earliest narrative literature in ancient China. In pre-Qin times, there was no distinction between history and fiction, so historians used the literary methods to record history. Today, from the literary point of view, we call these historical books the historical biography literature. China has an age-old historical tradition in science. In this tradition, possessing both characteristics of history and literature, pre-Qin’s historical biography literature not only opened up a wide subject field for the development of ancient Chinese novels, but also provided a good narrative model for later authors of novel because it was recorded in the true detail of the historical events, circumstances and characters.
