이 탐구는 미술치료과정에서 그림 해석에 대한 중요성과 어떻게 그림을 해석해야하는지를 이해하기 위한 목적에서 연구한 것이다. 이를 위하여 미술치료 전문가들은 어떻게 그림 해석하는지를 탐구하여 그림 해석에 대한 체계적 해명을 하고자 하였다. 연구 참여자인 미술치료 전문가들은 미술치료 전공으로 박사학위를 취득하고, 미술치료 현장경험이 10년 이상이며, 한국미술치료학회 미술치료임상전문가 자격을 소지한 3명을 목적 표집 하였다. 미술치료 전문가들과의 심층면담을 통해 그들의 경험을 생생하게 드러내기 위하여 내러티브 탐구를 실시하였다. 그림 해석에 대한 그들의 경험은 5개의 경험으로 도출되었다. 1) 미술치료 전문가들은 그림 해석에 대한 다른 이견을 가지고 있다. 2) 미술치료에서 해석에 대한 미술치료사 각자의 훈련과 기술이 있다. 3) 해석의 방식이 다양하다. 4) 해석 시 실수가 미술치료사의 본질을 보게하다. 5) 그림 해석 경험을 나누는 과정은 미술치료사를 반성하고 성장하게 하다. 이러한 경험은 미술치료를 전문적으로 하기 위해 미술치료 전문가들은 그림 해석에 대한 끊임없는 노력을 하고 있고, 변화하는 해석을 통해 내담자를 성장하게 하였으며, 그림해석은 전문성을 가지는 중요한 하나의 길이다. 이러한 내용을 바탕으로 본 연구의 의의와 제한점에 대해 논의하였다.
Abstract
This inquiry purposed to understand the importance of painting interpretation in art therapy and how to interpret paintings. To this end, art therapy experts tried to give a more systematic explanation of the picture interpretation by exploring how they experienced their interpretation. The study recruited three art therapy experts, who obtained their art therapy doctorate experienced more than 10 years in art therapy field, and qualified as a member of the Korean Art Therapy Association. The researcher conducted a narrative inquiry to vividly reveal their experiences through in-depth interviews with them. The study derived the five experience narratives of the picture interpretation as follows. 1) Art therapy experts had different disagreements about the picture interpretation. 2) Each art therapist had their own training and skills for interpretation. 3) There were various interpretation methods. 4) The mistake in interpretation led to perceive the essence of the art therapist. 5) The sharing process of their experiences resulted in their reflection and growth. This experience encouraged them to make constant efforts to interpret paintings, grow their clients through changing interpretations, and the picture interpretation was an important path to expertise. Based on these contents, the significance and limitations of this study were discussed.
