Abstract

This paper focused on the process of selecting Jeok Am Cho sin(適菴 曺伸) (1454-1529), a Seoja-born writer who served as a station officer and inner expedition of King Seongjong to Jungjong University, and his first Japanese meandering experience. At the age of 25, Cho sin(曺伸) was selected for his excellent visual ability to increase the number of civil servants to send telecommunications companies to Japan, and began his official career when he was appointed as a correspondence officer of the meandering group. Since then, he has been to China seven times and Japan three times through eunuchs, the Prince's Military Department, the Ministry of the Interior, etc. During the early Joseon Dynasty, envoys from Japan were frequent. There have been several dispatch of speculators, but unlike anecdotes and acrostic poems left in Chinese speculation, there is not much left. In such a situation, Cho sin(曺伸) participated in Japan three times as a member of the speculative group, and related records and poems were transmitted in 『Somunswaerok』(『謏聞瑣錄』) and 『Jeokamyugo』(『適菴遺稿』), so the data were examined as a whole. Although Cho sin(曺伸) was a scribe, we learned how he was specially selected by King Seongjong in recognition of his poetry, how he played a role as a literary man in actual gambling, and how his work embodied Cho sin’s (曺伸) perception of diplomacy with Japan. In addition, Cho sin(曺伸) was the brother-in-law of Kim jong jik(金宗直), the general of King Seongjong’s New Sarim, and the brother-in-law(庶弟) of Cho Wi(曺偉), who represented Shinjin-saryu, and had a lot of friendships with Shinjin-saryu at the time. In particular, in the 10th year of King Seongjong's reign, he exchanged Reward singing(酬唱) poetry while staying in Daemado Island with his officials Kim heun(金訢) and Cho ji Seo(趙之瑞). Through this, we looked at the strong sense of classification that they formed on the hard and dangerous Japanese meandering path. Cho sin(曺伸) had excellent academic ability, but was unable to reach a high government office due to the limitations of his status as a scribe. However, he often follows meandering to China and Japan, leaving a considerable amount of knowledge. And it was thought to be meaningful to examine deeply in that it was a record of a very different perspective from the record of speculation left by high-ranking officials such as political affairs and adverbs. Studies on communication gambling so far have focused on the late Joseon Dynasty. On the other hand, the lack of data may be the biggest reason why research on Joseon's telecommunications history has not been conducted properly. However, if research on the early Joseon Dynasty continues with a little interest, it is expected that specific aspects as much as the late Joseon Dynasty will appear.
