A New Rapeseed Hybrid (Brassica napus L.) withEarly Maturity and High Oil-Yield, “Sunmang”

Abstract

unmangis a new rapeseed ( Brassica napus L.) of F1 hybrid with high yield and high quality for oil and meal. Thishybrid was developed from the cross between Mokpo-CGMS (male sterile line) and 84055-B-10-3-1-6 (restore line) in 1996. Itwas achieved in preliminary and advanced yield trials from 1997 to 1998. Regional adaptation trials were conducted at two loca-tion from 1999 to 2001. unmangbelonged to n.IV type with early-maturity and yellow flower. Grain yield of unmang was57% higher than that of check variety with 2,840 kg/ha in regional adaptability test (RAT). This variety was recommended as aleading variety at southwestern area including Jeonnam, Jeonnbuk, and Kyongnam provinces and Cheju island of Korea in 2001.
