Abstract
Byeollee, a dwarf Hibiscustivar was developed by crossing a dwarf variety Kyungbuk 1, a while flower variety with a prominent red eye (Fig. 2). Themother tree, Kyungbuk 1, was collected in Andong, Province of GyeongSangbuk-do in 1993. The variety Kyungbuk 1 hassuch good horticultural features as dwarfism, a beautiful stem-shaped flowers and prominent red eye on white petal background.-ous a problem when used as a breeding material. Therefore, artificial cross between Baektanshim and Kyungbuk 1 was carriedout to circumvent this problem in 1993 and produced a hybrid BKK. Finally, we had artificial crossed BKK with Kewol-hyang, which have been generally known dwarfism tree among the Hibiscus varieties in 1996. In results, we produced a new cul-ndlong lasting flowers with prominent red eye. Also, it does not have protruding pistil. In addition to being a short height shrubbytree, it has very short internodes and compact branching (Table 1, 2 and Fig. 2). All these characteristics make the new dwarf cul-tivar suitable for growing indoors as a pot plant or outdoors for landscape.
