A New Hibiscus syriacus Dwarf Cultivar, “Soyang” which has Reddish Pink Flower with Red Eye Spot

Abstract

Soyang was selected in Chuncheon, Kangwon province in 1997 and its open pollinated progenies were proliferated atthe Korea Forest Research Institute in Suwon, Kyungkido. The progenies were managed with transplanting each year and 5 to 6-tigation of morphological characteristics showed that Soyang has Hongtanshim simple flower and open type of flower with funnelshape. The diameter of flower is 56.0m and is very small compared with contrastive cultivar, Yonggwang. The petal is fullyshape, leaf length and leaf width are short 43.9mm and narrow 23.8m. Shoulder width of leaf is very wide compared with con-trastive cultivar. Thickness of leaf, glos of leaf and density of branch are in the midle degree. Quantity of bloom is in normalnation. So that flower is taken as an good ornament.
