A New Sweetpotato Variety for Feed and Food of Storage Root with High Moisture Content and Fast Fleshed Up, “Biomi”

This variety was selected from the cross between MI9208-16 and Hi-starch in 1996, seedling and line selectionsyield trials were conducted at six locations from 2001 to 2003. Biomi has slightly lobed cordate shape of leaf, green vine and pet-iole, green axillary of vine, elliptic shape of storage root, light red skin and whitish yellow flesh of storage rot. The average yieldfleshed up variety, that yield from cultivation for 90 days in field was 20.6 ton/ha which was 59% higher than that of Yulmi vari-ety. This variety can be planted in all sweetpotato production regions.
