한국 옛 사람뼈 자료에 대한 생물고고학적 연구

초록

우리나라에서는 고고학 발굴조사에서 옛 사람뼈 자료가 많이 나타나지 않았고 필요한 전문가와 방법론의 개발에 대한 깊이 있는 연구가 희귀한 상황이다. 이 글에서는 향후 한국에서 이 분야의 발전이 어떤 방식으로 진전되어야 할 것인가를 생각해 보고자 현재까지 한국 사람뼈 연구의 현황을 살펴보고, 고대 사람뼈의 보존에 대한 경각심과 함께 역사학이나 민속학 등의 관련 분야와 융합적인 연구 등의 다양한 방법론의 개발이 적극적으로 이루어져야 할 것이고 이미 과거에 발굴된 사람뼈에 대한 연구도 적극적으로 이루어져야 한다는 점을강조하였다.

Abstract

Due to poor preservation of human skeletons at most of archaeological sites, few specialists havecarried out limited number of analysis of human bones and fossils in Korea. Worship of ancestor remains andpoor development of bioarchaeology in the past may have prevented preservation and analysis of human bones. However, cases of extensive analysis with various methods, including DNA analysis, carbon isotope analysis,pathological analysis etc. have been increased very rapidly in recent years and make meaningful contribution toarchaeological explanations of sites and ancient society. Development and rigorous application of variousmethodologies, in conjunction with related fields such as history and ethnography, to extensive analysis of humanbone remains is highly recommendable even for the human remains excavated previously.
