본 연구는 조손가족 조부모의 손자녀 양육경험의 실체를 파악하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 본 연구에서는 조손가족의 조부모 12명을 대상으로 심층면접을 통한 질적 연구를 수행하였다. 자료분석은 질적연구 방법 중 Strauss와 Cobin(1998)이 제시한 근거이론 방법에 의해서 이루어졌다. 연구참여자들과의 심층면담을 통해 얻은 원자료를 이론적 민감성을 가지고 지속적으로 개방코딩을 한 결과 총 14개의 범주와 36개의 하위 범주, 176개의 개념을 추출하였다. 이를 요약해 보면, 중심현상을 일으킨 인과적 조건은 '사면초가'이며, 조부모들의 양육경험의 중심현상은 '애타게 주어도 채워지지 않는 부모의 사랑'으로 나타났다. 이에 영향을 미친 맥락적 조건은 '남보기 부끄러움', '연명하기도 힘듦', '도와달라는 생각도 못함'의 세 가지였다. 작용/상호작용 전략을 촉진시키거나 억제하는 중재적 조건은 '여기저기서 도와줌', '인정과 격려를 받음'이었으며 '보람을 느낌', '고통만큼 성숙해짐', '앞날이 걱정됨'이라는 세가지 결과로 나타났다.
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify the care-giving experience of custodial grandparents. This qualitative research was conducted by in-depth 12 interviews with custodial grandparents. As for data analysis on this qualitative study, the grounded theory suggested by Strauss and Corbin(1998) was used. The raw data collected from in-depth interviews with the participants were analyzed by the open coding, combined with theoretically sensitive and constant comparisons method. As a result, a total of 14 categories, 36 subcategories and 176 concepts were generated. In summary, the causal condition that caused the core phenomenon was 'hostile environment against them', 'awkward conditions around them'. The core phenomenon that foster children experience during the process of adaptation was 'unoccupied parental affection even with unconditional favour'. The contextual condition that affected the outcome was 'shyness before others', 'hardness to barely manage to live', and 'hardness to consider any help'. The intervening conditions that promote or restrain action/interaction on core phenomenon were, 'helping hand here and there', and 'being supportive and encouraged'. As a result, three concepts such as 'feeling of meaningful result', 'maturity through serious suffering', and 'anxiety about the future' were assumed.
