청소년 동성애자의 성정체성 드러내기가 자살위험성에 영향을 미치는 과정에 관한 연구

본 연구는 청소년 동성애자들이 자신의 성정체성을 드러내는 과정이 자살 위험성에 미치는 영향을 경로모형을 사용하여 실증적으로 검증하였다. 본 연구의 대상자는 스스로를 동성애자로 규정하면서 적어도 1명 이상에게 자신의 성정체성을 드러낸 경험이 있는 만 13세에서 만 23세 사이의 청소년 동성애자로서 눈덩이 표집방식으로 자료를 수집하였으며 최종 115명을 대상으로 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 청소년 동성애자들은 커밍아웃의 범위가 넓어질수록 주변의 수용정도가 부정적이고 반동성애 폭력경험에 노출될 가능성이 높아지며 또한 비자발적으로 아웃팅을 당할수록 반동성애 폭력경험이 많아지는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 수용정도가 부정적이고 반동성애 폭력경험이 많을수록 청소년 동성애자의 우울수준과 자살위험성이 높아지는 것으로 나타났다. 즉 자신의 성정체성을 드러내는 과정에서의 주변의 수용정도나 반동성애 폭력경험과 같은 사회적 반응이 이들의 자살위험성에 중요한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과를 바탕으로 청소년 동성애자에 대한 실천적 함의를 논의하였다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to investigate the process of influences of disclosure on suicidal risk of gay and lesbian youth. And the data were analyzed using path modeling with AMOS 6.0 and SPSS 12.0. In this research, gay and lesbian youths aged 13~23 who recognized their sexual identity and disclose to at least 1 person were the research subject for a survey, and materials on 115 youths were collected by snowball sampling method. The major findings are summarized as follows. Depression and suicidal risk of gay and lesbian youths were influenced indirectly through perceived acceptance level and anti-gay violence experience after 'coming out' or 'outing'. Eventually, the social response after disclosure of their sexual identity more influenced on suicidal risk of gay and lesbian youths. On the basis of these results, this study provided some suggestions for preventing or reducing suicidal risk of gay and lesbian youths.
