(ECW/TBW of Right Arm)’ 순으로 나타났다.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a machine learning model capable of classifying metabolic disease groups using anthropometric data and to visually explore the importance of key variables contributing to the predictions through SHAP(Shapley Additive Explanations) analysis. To achieve these research objectives, anthropometric data were collected from 201 adult men and women, and all variables were preprocessed as continuous variables using Z-score standardization. Subsequently, Decision Tree, XGBoost, HGBT, and Random Forest models were developed to classify metabolic disease groups based on the anthropometric data, and the results were as follows. First, the baseline Random Forest model exhibited the highest performance, with an accuracy of 0.856 and an F1-score of 0.921. Second, after optimizing the hyperparameters of each baseline machine learning model using the RandomizedSearchCV technique, the XGBoost model achieved the highest performance, with an accuracy of 0.927 and an F1-score of 0.957. Third, SHAP analysis revealed that the most influential variables contributing to the predictions were subscapular subcutaneous fat, body fat percentage of the right arm, calf subcutaneous fat thickness, and extracellular water ratio of the right arm. Fourth, SHAP summary and dependence plots were used to visually interpret the interactions among variables and their influence on model predictions. Overall, this study highlights the potential applicability of a machine learning–based classification model using anthropometric data for identifying high-risk groups for metabolic diseases. These findings are expected to provide a foundation for future research and contribute to disease prevention and healthcare applications.
