노인의 정보화인식과 인터넷활용이 사회적 네트워크 형성에 미치는 영향: 광역시･도를 중심으로
The Perceived Effects of Information Technologies and Internet use on Building Social Network for the Elderly People: The Case of Metropolitan Cities and Provinces

본 연구에서는 전국16개 광역시･도에 거주하는 60세 이상 정보화교육 수강노인 920명을 대상으로, 정보화인식･인터넷활용은 노인의 공적･사적인 네트워크형성에 매우 밀접한 영향(+)을 미치고 있다는 것을 검증하였다. 노인의 사회적 네트워크는 학력･경제력이 높고 건강상태가 양호하며 종교생활을 영위하는 노인들 사이에서 범위와 밀도가 확장되어 있었다. 그러나 노인의 정보활용이란 모든 노인들이 유용하게 실생활에 이용하며 삶의 질을 제고할 수 있는 보편적인 활동으로 확산되어야 한다. 따라서 개인의 환경적 요소가 걸림돌이 되지 않도록 노인만을 위한 정보화교육프로그램이 지방자치단체의 특성화된 정보화사업으로 정착되어야 한다. 또한 노인의 사회적 네트워크 형성을 위해서는 정보활동뿐만 아니라, 노인이 함께 참여할 수 있는 지역행사를 정례화 하여 노인의 자발적인 단체활동과 조직으로의 참여를 유도해야 한다.
Abstract
This study attempted to examine the relationship between the perceived effects of IT including IT use and the processes of building public and private social network for the elderly people. The sample frame was the elderly people over the age of 60 in 16 metropolitan cities and provinces. The survey results showed that the perceived IT effects and IT use are positively related with social network building for the elderly people. Especially, social network building through IT use was found more positively for the elderly people who were in more educated, higher incomes, good medical conditions, and religious life. From the view of universal service, however, this information gap in the elderly people can be additional costs for society because social welfare costs will be a big burden without increasing labour products of the elderly people in the aging society. It is time for the government to provide policy alternatives to increase the level of IT literacy and the IT usability of the elderly people, by which they actively build social network through IT use including finding jobs, opportunity of education, participating in the process of policy decision making.
