The Export Direction and Strategies of Electronic Banking and Finance Market of Southeast Asian Countries

Abstract
We examine the current stage of electronic banking and finance of 7 countries of Southeast Asian countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. And we analyze the possibility of exporting Korean electronic banking service to them. First, after careful examination of the statistical data of these countries, we find that their systems are underdeveloped and that Korean companies and financial institutions are able to participate in their financial market development program. Second, to make it succeed, we must keep in mind that their development stages are so different that we should use different strategies for each different country. Third, we find that Korean IT firms, especially small and medium-sized ones, must corporate with Korean financial institution and Korean government to succeed in these projects. Finally, it is recommended that some laws and regulations on Korean firms and financial institution should be changed to promote the export of electronic finance service.
