Abstract

The Korean War and the Change of Population and Workers' Conditions in Busan Kim, Jong Han Park, Sub Park, Young Goo The first purpose of this article is to analyze the change of population and workers' condition in Busan before and after period of Korean war. The second one is to analyze the relation with the Korean war and Seoul-Busan growth axis under this change. The result of this study is can be summarized as follows. First, during the war, Busan's population increased rapidly and strengthened Busan's economic power. But this does not necessarily mean the strengthening of Seoul-Busan growth axis. Second, although the war intensified Busan's economic power, it did not bring forth the improvement of workers' conditions in Busan. Ultimately, the results of this study suggest the possibility of an aggravation of Busan workers' conditions after the war, 1950-1953.
