초록
This study proposes policy directions for applying prognostics and health management (PHM) technology to improve the reliability of weapon systems and enhance national defense capabilities. The proposed method estimates the remaining life of individual weapon systems. When applied to expensive weapon systems, this method offers advantages in terms of increased availability and cost reduction compared to traditional reliability analysis methods. To achieve this, this study first reviews the literature related to the PHM technology and examines the cases and regulations that have been applied to the acquisition and maintenance of U.S. weapon systems. Next, it analyzes the current-status of regulations, systems, and guidelines related to reliability, availability, and maintainability, which are integral to domestic weapon system acquisition procedures. This study also discusses the potential benefits of introducing PHM technology into weapon system acquisition and maintenance, focusing on changes in the concept of availability. Finally, it presents a roadmap for the short-, medium-, and long-term implementation of PHM technology, proposes amendments for relevant regulations and systems, and suggests methods for improving national defense capabilities.
Abstract
This study proposes policy directions for applying prognostics and health management (PHM) technology to improve the reliability of weapon systems and enhance national defense capabilities. The proposed method estimates the remaining life of individual weapon systems.
