초록
A discussion on the causes of shell fallback in K55A1 self-propelled howitzers explored several potential factors, including structural issues with the rapid loading device, shell contact with the chamber entrance during loading, accumulator pressure charge issues, and damage or contamination of shell rotation bands. However, a clear correlation analysis of the factors that directly affect fallback has not yet been established. Additionally, the army expanded scope of the discussion by considering that internal corrosion, wear, and cracks in the barrel itself may also be related to the fallback, along with the structural issues and other suggested causes. Consequently, technical barrel inspections were conducted under the supervision of the army headquarters (2023.11.~2024.2.) for K55A1 self-propelled howitzers. Accordingly, this study reviewed the theoretical considerations on fallback, investigated prior research, and identified the main discussion points that have been conducted so far. Based on the results of the barrel technical inspections conducted under the supervision of the Army Headquarters, recommendations have been proposed for minimizing the impact on fallback from the perspective of equipment management and maintenance support, shifting the focus away from previously discussed issues.
