A Study on the Utilization of Defense Standard Documents Linked with the Cataloging of Defense Specifications

This study proposes a plan to improve the utilization of defense standard documents by linking them with defense specification catalog information. Accordingly, 712 types of defense specifications were identified by examining the application standards of 269 defense standard documents currently in use. Using 888,746 defense drawings employed in munitions procurement from 2021 to 2024 and the exact matching technique, 102,770 linked defense specification catalog entries were derived. This analysis enabled the identification of defense standard documents and producer information that were highly associated with defense specifications. Furthermore, 51 defense standard documents widely used in munitions procurement were extracted. These findings can serve as a basis for proposing alternatives for the future utilization of defense standard documents and improving the overall system.
