This study presents a novel approach for improving the athermalization process and temperaturesensor calibration of infrared cameras to enhance image quality and manufacturing efficiency. The proposed method addresses the limitations of conventional athermalization processes, which require extensive temperature testing across 12 intervals, by reducing testing to only two intervals and predicting the remaining data using an algorithm. This significantly reduces the time and cost associated with the process. Additionally, a novel temperature-sensor calibration algorithm is introduced to minimize measurement errors caused by the sensor precision, operational-amplifier drift, gain-resistor tolerance, and analogto-digital converter resolution. The temperature-sensor calibration method proposed in this study is used to calculate and compensating for the gain and offset of the corresponding temperature sensor by utilizing the reference temperature of a calibrated temperature chamber during the athermalization test. The calibration ensures accurate temperature readings and aligns with the lookup table for real-time lens position adjustments. Experimental validation shows that the proposed athermalization process reduces the total processing time from 1,080 min to approximately 180 min, thus affording an efficiency improvement of 83%. The temperature-sensor calibration algorithm further enhances image stability by limiting temperaturemeasurement errors to within ±0.3°C, thereby ensuring consistent image quality across all fields of view.
