초록
Background: The laser-assisted liposuction methods currently in use aim to provide more selective adipose tissue damage by manipulating various wavelengths based on the theory of selective photothermolysis. The goal of this study was to evaluate the safety and efficacy of 1,980-nm and 2,300-nm wavelength laser-assisted lipolysis used to reduce abdominal circumference. Methods: A total of 20 patients were enrolled and underwent successful laser-assisted lipolysis procedures. The abdominal circumference, subcutaneous fat thickness, body mass index, Global Aesthetic Improvement Scale (GAIS), and Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) score were evaluated on the day of the procedure and at every follow-up visit. Results: During the 12-week evaluation period, the abdominal circumference measurements were reduced ranging from –3.86% (4 weeks) to –4.23% (12 weeks). At 1-week, the average reduction of the abdominal subcutaneous fat thickness was –12.21% (–0.37 ± 0.39 cm). During the 12-week follow-up, the fat thickness was further diminished, ranging from –19.91% (4 weeks) to –23.75% (12 weeks). The body weight reduced from –0.31% (–0.19 ± 1.07 kg) at the 4-week measurement to –0.77% (–0.50 ± 1.28 kg) at the 12-week measurement. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that lipolysis with the dual-wavelength laser system of 1,980-nm and 2,300-nm wavelengths, has statistically significant efficacy in reducing abdominal circumference and subcutaneous fat thickness. The complication rates were low with this procedure.
