미야자키 하야오 애니메이션의 동화 활용방법 연구 —<마녀 배달부 키키>를 중심으로

Abstract

Animations adapted from original children’s story are activelyreleased. Accordingly, the discussions on the correlations betweenchildren’s story and animations are also activated. Most of them,however, are merely vague expectations for the possibility. For moreexpansive discussions, close reviews on the actual works should bemade. With this critical mind, this thesis attempted to analyze MiyazakiHayao’s animation, Kiki’s Delivery Service, adapted from KadonoEiko’s story. The value of the text was recognized in that MiyazakiHayao is the master who exerts great influences on many animationoriginators and Kiki’s Delivery Service is the work that evokessympathy from many consumers. His storytelling creation methodsrepresented in this work are summarized into the following threecategories. First, choice and transformation: it is storytelling to maintain theindependence of animation rather than representing the contents of theoriginal work verbatim. By accepting more actively the conversion thatinevitably arises in the conversion process of media, it is applied to theprocess in which the story units of the original work are sequentiallyrestructured. Second, fantasy and creation of a world view: it represents fantasythat children’s story and animations have in common and amethodology to create a world view for this. Here, particularly, theaspect in which Miyazaki Hayao’s “longing for flying” is revealed wasexamined. This creation method was applied mainly to the process inwhich combinations between sequences were made. Third, growth and cheer: this was a creation method connected withsetting the subject that embraces the work in its entirety. The strategies,in which, if universality is obtained through growth, then the author’screative perspective is represented through cheer, could be confirmed. These kinds of creation methods were formed based on the extensivereading experiences of children’s story, and they are distinct in thathumanistic introspection is revealed through this. In this sense, Kiki’sDelivery Service presented a creation method of producing animationsadapted from children’s story. It is expected that the results of thisstudy will be of practical help to the Korean animation creation field.
