초록
This study examined the correlation of the main collections ofliterature, the starting point in the history of Korea children’s literaturewith the literary circles. First of all, it shows how the criterion to selectthe authors and the writings under the new order has been changed bycomparing 「A Collection of Modern Korean Children’s Literature」,which was published by 「The Korean Children’s LiteratureAssociation」, to 「A Collection of Chosun Children’s Literature」. Asexpecting the results, its list was filled only with the authors whoaccorded with a liberal democracy with the ‘North’ and ‘socialist’affiliation excluded. In addition, an additional condition of ‘a practisingprofessional author for children’ was added. If it was considered that1950’s was the time when many adult authors entered the field ofchildren’s literature, it should be highly evaluated to consider only theauthors for children’s literature as a target. 「Korean Children’s Literature Reading Book(Eulyu Publishing)」,「Korean Children’s Literature Collection(MInjung BookstorePublishing)」became a starting point of the advent of a collection anda canon research. A copy of Eulyu Publishing can be considered as thefirst collection to try to historicize Korean children’s literature byestablishing a description on the basis of authors inheriting thelegitimacy of children’s literature. Whereas a copy of Minjung Bookstore Publishing contained as manyas 17 authors besides Bang Jeong-Hwan in Volume 1 and there was notof little importance to adult authors. So, it got left behind EulyuPublishing in terms of the professionalism as a collection of children’sliterature and the historicizing to form the pedigree of children’sliterature. However, this study paid attention to aspects which a copy ofMinjung Bookstore Publishing had different from a view of the purismliterature. Minjung Bookstore took out the authors who EulyuPublishing had not paid much attention to and had not accorded withits tendency. For example, the authors having had a left-wingexperience and established the mordernization of Korean creativechildren’s story. The difference of the identity of two collections was the inevitableproduct which came from the difference of the authority of theliterature circles which each publisher had leaned against. This studysuggests the two collections were a new viewpoint of the competitiveproduct between the pure literature and the reverse direction byproving the situation where the main founders of Eulyu Publishing andMInjung Bookstore Publishing had no choice but to be connected todifferent forces respectively. In short, 「Korean Children’s LiteratureReading Book」and 「Korean Children’s Literature Collection」are anexample which shows that the competition of the literary circles in1950’s had had a continuous influence to the publication market in1960’s.
