Abstract

This paper is about the introduction and the acceptance of Italian Fascism in the essays of Kim Dong-Seock and Lee Won-Jo, representative left-wing critics of Anti-Fascism in the Korean Modern Time: the essays and critical writings of Kim Dong-Seock from the December of 1945 to 1949, and those of Lee Won-Jo from the 1930's to the 1940's. Even though Kim Dong-Seock expressed directly the socialistic Anti-Fascism in his essays, he quoted some phrases from the public speeches of Benito Mussolini and showed a glossary of Italian Fascism from the Italian Encyclopedia. In the essay <The Bell of the Nation> Kim was writing about the death of Hitler and Mussolini and underlined the another names of fascist leaders alive at that time, foreseeing that Fascism would not easily disappear from the humanities. Among the leftist critics of the Korean Modern Time, Kim Nam-Cheon could be the unique one that did not use or write any word about Fascism or Mussolini. But in the case of Lee Won-Jo, he did use the Fascism terms several times and simply mentioned that Italian Fascism was the World Fascism which had become powerful in the 1920's. This thesis is aimed that the introduction and the acceptance of the Italian Culture in the Korean Modern Time should not be the secondary theme in the Comparative Literature.
