유아의 정서지능,인지능력,기질과 문제행동의 관계성 및 영향력에 관한 연구

A Study on the Relative Effects of Emotional Intelligence, Cognitive Ability and Temperament on the Emotional and Behavioral Problems of Preschool Children

본 연구는 유아의 정서지능, 인지능력, 기질과 유아의 문제행동 유형과의 관계 및 그의 상대적인 영향력을 알아보는데 목적이 있다. 연구 결과 정서지능은 6개 하위요인 모두가 높을수록 유아의 문제행동 전체 및 외현적, 내면적 문제행동이 적게 나타났으며, 인지능력은 유추에 의한 추론능력을 제외한 하위요인들이 높을수록 문제행동 전체 및 외현적, 내면적 문제행동이 적게 나타났다. 그리고 기질은 활동성 요인이 높을수록 문제행동의 전체와 외현적 문제행동이 높게 나타났으며, 다른 요인들은 상관은 있으나 통계적으로 유의하지는 못하였다. 상대적 영향력에 대한 결과는 문제행동의 전체 및 외현적, 내면적 문제행동에 대해 정서지능(43～61%)이 가장 높은 설명력을 가지고 있으며, 그 다음으로 인지능력(2%)과 기질(1～2%)이 영향력을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 유아의 문제행동을 예방하고 치료하기 위해서는 유아의 정서지능을 높이기 위한 방법모색이 필요함을 제안한다.

Abstract

This study examines the relationships among preschool children's emotional intelligence, cognitive ability, temperament and their emotional and behavioral problems, in terms of relative effects. The results of this research indicate that, with the exception of reasoning by analogy, the higher the cognitive ability and emotional intelligence were, the fewer were the emotional and behavioral problems. And when activity factor of temperament was high, children's emotional and behavioral problems appeared to be high. In the results of relative effects, it was found that emotional intelligence (61%), cognitive ability (2%) and temperament (1%) explained preschool children's emotional and behavioral problems. Externalizing problems were especially explained by emotional intelligence (48%), cognitive ability(2%) and temperament (2%), while internalizing problems were explained by emotional intelligence (43%) and temperament (1%). These results imply that it is important to promote sound emotional intelligence in young children with emotional and behavioral problems since low emotional intelligence is a predictor of such problems.
