본 연구는 유아기의 자녀를 둔 맞벌이부부 114쌍을 대상으로 부모의 사회적 지지와 양육행동 및 부모-자녀 의사소통의 관계성을 살펴보고, 이러한 변인들과 유아의 인지, 사회, 정서 발달과의 인과관계를 연구모형을 통해 알아보는 데에 연구의 목적이 있었다. 연구결과, 아버지의 경우, 유아의 인지능력과 정서지능에 대해 사회적 지지, 양육행동, 의사소통은 영향을 미치지 않았으나, 사회적 능력에 대해서는 양육행동이 직접적인, 사회적 지지는 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 어머니의 경우는 유아의 인지능력에 대해 사회적 지지, 양육행동, 의사소통은 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 사회적 능력에 대해서는 사회적 지지와 양육행동, 의사소통이 모두 직접적인 영향과 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 정서지능에 대해서는 의사소통이 직접적인 영향을 미치며, 사회적 지지와 양육행동이 간접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.
Abstract
This study identifies and analyzes the relationships among the following variables in dual-income families:1) parents’ social support, 2) parenting behaviors and communication patterns of dual-income couples with their children in terms of how these variables are related to young children’s cognitive, social and emotional development. The subjects include 114 children ranging from three to five years of age and attending early childhood education and child care centers and the dual -income parents of those infants. In this study, 1) a father’s social support had an effect on parenting behavior but 2) did not influence communication; 3) a father’s social support, parenting behavior and communication did not affect the child’s cognitive ability or emotional intelligence. However, it was found that 4) parenting behavior had a direct effect on the children’s social skills while 5) social support had an indirect effect on them. In case of mothers in dual income families, it was found 6) that the mother’s social support had an impact on both parenting behavior and communication. In addition, 7) the variables of social support, parenting behavior and communication did not influence children’s cognitive abilities though 8) all the variables affected social skills both directly and indirectly. As for emotional intelligence 9) communication had a direct impact on it and 10) social support and parenting behavior had an indirect one.
