니체와 ‘그늘’의 사유

본 논문은 ‘그림자와 그늘’과 ‘숨, 꿈, 춤’이란 우리말 개념을 가지고 동서양의 사유의 근원적 차이를 밝혀내고 니체 사상의 근저에 놓여있는 생리학적 사유가 어떻게 ‘그늘’의 사유 와 조우하는지 또 이것이 ‘춤’과 더 나아가 ‘예술’이란 주제와 어떤 관련을 맺고 있는가를 조망함을 목적으로 한다. 유심론과 유물론으로 압축되는 서구의 전통적 사유는 ‘빛’의 관점에서 ‘눈’을 중심으로 사물의 ‘진위’를 파악하는 ‘그림자’의 사유이다. 이에 반해 ‘볕(열)’의 관점에서 ‘몸’을 중심으로 사물의 ‘가치’를 따지는 ‘그늘’의 사유는 동양과 니체의 사유가 만나는 지점이며 ‘빛과 그림자’ 또는 ‘실재와 가상’을 둘러 싼 서구의 전통적 존재론, 인식론, 가치론의 패러다임이 붕괴하는 지점이기도 하다. ‘빛의 형이상학’에서 출발한 ‘그림자’와 ‘시각 중심’의 사유는 필연적으로 ‘망각’을 피하고 ‘기억’을 중시하게 되지만 ‘볕의 생리학’과 관련된 ‘그늘’과 ‘몸 중심’의 사유는 ‘기억과 망각’을 동시에 중요시 해 ‘알맞은 때’ 즉 시중(時中)과 적시(適時)를 중시하게 된다. ‘그늘’의 사유를 통해서 보면 예술은 ‘가상’도 ‘(감성적)인식’도 ‘허구’도 아니며 ‘시중(時中)’과 ‘적시(適時)’ 속에 삶의 간절함과 절실함이 피어낸 ‘기억술’이자 ‘망각술’이며 생명의 욕구로부터 터져 나오는 ‘에너지의 춤’인 동시에 건강술이자 존재변형술다. 플리니우스의 ‘그림의 기원’이 우리말 ‘그림, 그림자, 그리움’과 관련하여 새롭게 해석되며 이것이 니코스 카잔차키스의 소설에 등장하는 ‘조르바의 춤’이 보여주는 ‘생명의 욕구(tanha)’와 어떻게 만나는지 분석된다. 니체는 괴테가 그리스 문화를 이해하는 열쇄인 ‘오르기아(Orgia)’라는 현상을 이해하지 못했기 때문에 그리스인을 이해하지 못했다고 얘기하는데 이 오르기아는 그늘의 사유와 관련된 ‘에너지’란 말의 뿌리이기도 하다. 이 오르기아라는 현상이 우리말 ‘숨, 꿈, 춤’과 ‘신(神)나다’에 숨어있는 핵심적인 사유와 어떻게 만나는지 설명되며 끝으로 ‘ 그늘’과 ‘ 그늘’의 키워드를 통해 새로운 ‘그늘론’이 제시된다.
Abstract
The korean word ‘grimja’, translatend in shadow’, is a world of appearance comprehended by the sense organ of ‘eyes’ from the perspective of ‘light and darkness’. In contrast ‘gnul’ as a world of reality experienced by the ‘body’ from the percpective of ‘heat and coolness’ could be translated in ‘cool shade’. The two traditional streams of western thoughts, summed up as ‘idealism and materialism’, are the thoughts of ‘grimja(shadow)’ that grasp ‘eye-centered’ the true and false of objects from the point of view of ‘light’. With his famous ‘allegory of cave’ Plato regarded the material world of phenomenon as grimja of transcendental world of idea and grim (painting) as grimja of grimja (simulacre), namely appearance of appearance. According to Hegel’s ‘Phenomenology of Spirit’, the material world was considered as shadow-like, grimja, of the ideal world and the beauty as sensorial grimja of idea. The dialectic materialism of Marx, who turned over this relation, is not so different from Plato’s and Hegel’s grimja discourse. The ‘Interpretation of Dreams’ of Freud is no exception in this case, because he looks upon dream as the encoded grimja(hierogryphics) of the reality too. In contrast to Hegel, Marx and Freud, the thought of Nietzsche corresponds to the thought of ‘gnul’ which looks at the values of things from the point of view of ‘energy’ which is body centered. ‘Gnul’ is neither like ‘grimja’ the absence of light nor the defect copy or phantom but the cool territory of yin which is made just by the ‘difference’ of energy and equivalent to the hot territory of yang. The concept of Orgia which Nietzsche valued as keyword for understanding of the dionysian world in the ancient greek is described and discussed in the context of ‘Gnul’ perspective as well as Plinius’ theory of painting and Zorba’s dancing.
