Abstract
This paper analyzed the determinants of international licensing as an overseas entry mode with data on Korean on-line game firms. Licensing is categorized into traditional enduser licensing and third-party out-licensing. Five hypotheses were established on the ground of level of protection on intellectual property rights and legal restriction on foreign games as institutional factor in a host country, and technology-related resource, international experience of top management and the size of the entrant as factor from resource-based perspective. The result revealed that choice of traditional end-user licensing was strongly related to and affected by the level of protection on intellectual property rights in a host country and the international experience of entrant's top management.
