비트겐슈타인은 그의 저작에서 철학(적 문제)을 치료가 필요한 질병에 종종 비유했다. 따라서 오랜 기간 동안 비트겐슈타인의 철학적 방법을 치료적 방법으로 해석하는 견해들이 있어왔으며, 이러한 해석은 치료적 해석으로 불리기도 했다. 이 논문에서는 비트겐슈타인의 철학을 치료적인 것으로 보는 여러 해석들을 검토해보고, 그러한 해석이 어떤 점에서 문제가 있는지를 살펴볼 것이다. 비트겐슈타인의 철학 저술 스타일이 매우 독특했으며, 메타포를 즐겨 사용한 점에 비추어 볼 때 그가 철학(적 문제)을 치료가 필요한 질병이라고 한 점 역시 메타포 이상의 의미를 부여하는 것은 해석의 과잉이라는 결론에 도달하게 될 것이다.
Abstract
Wittgensetin often uses metaphorical expressions such as disease or illness for philosophy and philosophical problems in need of medical treatment or therapy. There have been various versions of the so-called therapeutic reading indeed. I examine several versions of it and explain what makes them untenable. Wittgenstien’s philosophical style is very unique, and frequent use of metaphoric expressions is a part of it. His use of illness and treatment too is just another case of metaphor.
