이 글의 목적은 첫 아모스서가 기록된 시기와 그 목적을 밝히는 것이다. 이를 위해 아모스서의 한가운데 놓여 있는 5장 1-17절을 분석한다. 먼저 아모스서의 구조와 형성과정에 대한 연구들을 살펴보고 이를 통해 5장 1-17절이 첫 아모스서의 형성 시기와 목적을 파악하는 데 중요한 역할을 한다는 것을 밝힌다. 그런 다음 5장 1-17절의 짜임새를 파악하고 문학적 통일성을 살펴보면서 기본본문을 확정하고 이 기본본문을 화용론적 관점에 분석하고 풀이한다. 그리고 마지막으로 아모스 전승이 본문에서 어떻게 해석되고 있는지를 살펴본다. 5장 1-12, 14-17절*로 이루어진 기본본문은 8-9절의 심판하시는 창조주 야훼에 대한 찬양을 중심으로 한가운데로 집중되는 구조로 구성되어 있다. 세 겹의 테두리가 이 중심을 둘러싸고 있는데, 죽음, 삶, 사회적 불의라는 주제가 순서대로 중심에 있는 심판하시는 창조주 야훼를 향한다. 이 기본본문은 북왕국 이스라엘의 사회적 불의를 고발하고 그들에게 죽음이라는 하나님의 심판을 선포한다. 동시에 삶을 위한 대안을 제시한다. 살 수 있는 유일한 길은 야훼를 찾는 것이고 사회적 정의를 실현하는 것이다. 5장 1-12, 14-17절*은 시리아-에브라임 전쟁 이후 기원전 733/2-722/1년에 아모스의 제자들은 조가를 사용하여 아모스 전승을 그들의 시대적 상황에 적용하여 선포한 심판예언이다. 이 심판예언은 삶을 위한 권고를 통하여 아모스의 심판예언의 본디 목적인 ‘돌이킴으로의 부름’을 분명하게 드러낸다. 본문은 예언자 전승이 예언서 안에서 어떻게 해석되었는지를 보여주는 ‘이어쓰기’를 위한 한 보기를 보여 준다.
Abstract
The purpose of this article is to determine the time of writing and intent of the oldest book of Amos. For this purpose, I analyze Amos 5:1-17 located in the very middle of the book of Amos. First, I investigate the structure and the redactional process of the book of Amos. I argue that the text of 5:1-17 plays an important role in determining of the time of writing and intent of the oldest book of Amos. Next, I discuss the structure of the text and determine the fundamental literary unit by examining the literary coherence of the text. Finally, I analyze and interpret the literary unit from a pragmatic perspective. The fundamental literary unit which consists of Amos 5:1-12.14-17* is composed in a chiastic structure with its center at vv. 8-9. Three rings enclose the center, and the themes of death, life and social justice one after another flow toward the hymn of YHWH as creator and judge at the center. The text condemns the social injustice of the Northern Kingdom of Israel and declares death as the judgement of YHWH. Concurrently, life as the alternative to death is proposed. The way of life is to seek YHWH and to realize social justice. The text of Amos 5:1-12.14-17* is the prophecy of the divine judgement which Amos’ disciples pronounced in 733/2-722/1 B.C.E. by means of lament. This prophecy is the application of the original message of Amos in a new historical situation. It exposes explicitly the original intent of the prophecy, namely, a call to repentance by use of the exhortation toward life. The text gives an example of ‘Fortschreibung’ which indicates the process of interpretation of the prophet’s original message in the Prophets.
