일본의 신작오페라 ≪아니오히메≫(アニオー姫) 역사적 상상력에 관한 연구

2023년 9월 베트남의 하노이에서 초연된 《아니오히메》(アニオー姫) 는 17세기 광남국의 공주 고쿠호아(玉華)와 나가사키의 무역상 아라키 소타로(荒木宗太郎) 간의 사랑을 다룬 창작오페라로 일본과 베트남 언론의 집중적인 조명을 받았다. 본 작품은 전체 4막 구조 안에 아라키 소타로와 고쿠호아 공주의 만남과 재회, 가정을 이루어 고난을 극복하고 살아가는 내용을 담고 있으며, 역사 고증 담당자를 별도로 기용할 정도로 사실성의 확보에 철저를 기했다. 이처럼 《아니오히메》는 실제의 사건을 바탕으로 하여 역사적인 사실(fact)과 드라마적인 허구(fiction)의 경계 위에서 역사적 상상력을 통해 새로운 내러티브를 창조하고 있다. 본고에서는 사실과 허구가 결합된 오페라라는 의미에서 《아니오히메》를 팩션오페라(faction opera)로 규정하고, 작품의 다양한 에피소드와 주요한 아리아에 대한 분석을 통해 내용적 특징을 구체적으로 검토하며, 이를 토대로 ‘팩션’이 작동되는 극적 장치의 메커니즘에 대해 규명하고자 한다. 이러한 분석 작업을 통해 《아니오히메》가 기획되고 구성된 맥락이 무엇인지 살펴보고, 더 나아가 동시대 동아시아 지역에서 오페라가 창작되는 다양한 양상에 대해 고찰해 보고자 한다.
Abstract
Japanese Contemporary opera 《Aniō-Hime》 which depicts the love between Ngọc Hoa(玉華), the princess of Quảng Nam Quốc(広南国) and Araki Sōtarō(荒木宗太郎), a Japanese trading entrepreneur and a low-ranking samurai from Nagasaki, was premiered in Hanoi, Viet Nam on September 2023. The opera was given immediate spotlights of the press of both Japan and Vietnam. This opera consists of four acts about the story of the miraculous encounter and reunion of Araki Sōtarō and Ngọc Hoa, with their marriage and overcoming hardships. In the process of actualizing this grand-scale opera project, even historians were appointed to verify historical facts. Like this, the opera 《Aniō-Hime》 successfully made an original narrative on the fine borderline between historical facts and dramatic fictions, with the assertive employment of historical imaginations and modifications. In this article, I have defined 《Aniō-Hime》 as a 'Faction-opera' which means the combination of both facts and fictions, and disclosed the characteristics of its content with analyzing various episodes and main arias. Through this process, I aimed to certify the mechanism of theatrical technique which makes the notion of 'faction' to be operative. Ultimately, I tried to research the context of planning and realizing the collaborative opera 《Aniō-Hime》 and furthermore, to unveil the multilateral and multidimensional aspects of making contemporary operas in the East-asian regions.
