본 논문은 <부산>, <부산항애>, 그리고 <성소>에 비장소적 장소상실의 도시경관이 어떻게 나타나는가를 공간이론가들, 특히 에드워드 렐프의 장소 개념과 마르크 오제의 비장소 개념에 기대어 논의한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 느와르적이고 스펙터클한 현실공간, 실재와 환상이 겹치는 공간, 그리고 게임 속의 환상공간에 재현된 장소 정체성의 상실, 장소와 인물들 간의 관계의 상실, 그리고 역사의 상실이 어떻게 나타나는가를 공간성의 개념으로 분석한다. 인간보다는 오히려 건물과의 “단독적 계약”이 부각되는 자본주의 사회에서의 도시경관은 그 추상성으로 인해 전통적인 장소에서의 정서적 유대가 약화하는 비장소적 장소상실의 특성을 지닌다. <부산>, <부산항애>, 그리고 <성소>에서 폭력이 일상화된 도시경관은 가정, 술집, 직업소개소, 폭력배들이 싸우는 창고, 환상의 공간에서는 느와르적 분위기로, 또 다른 한편으로는 자본주의 경제체제로 인한 초근대 사회의 스펙터클한 이미지로 재현된다. 특히 <부산>과 <부산항애>에 나오는 초고층 건축물, 광안대교, 그리고 요트장은 영화 서사적 측면에서 큰 역할을 하는 것은 아니다. 비록 이들 영화가 부산의 도시를 재현하고 있지만, 이러한 공간에 대한 관객들의 감정이입을 끌어내기에는 다소 한계가 있다. 모두 부산에서 촬영된 이들 세 편의 영화에서 재현된 도시는 부산을 홍보하기 위한 일종의 관광상품으로도 기능하며 정서적인 유대보다는 ‘단독적인 계약’에 기초한 장소상실의 비장소성을 지닌 상실의 지리이다.
Abstract
This essay explores the ways in which a cityscape of loss is spatially represented in “Busan,” “Brothers in Heaven,” and “Resurrection of the Little Match Girl” by utilizing the concepts of Edward Relph's placelessness and Marc Auge’s non-place. It analyzes the loss of identity, the loss of relationship, and the loss of history, visually manifested in the noir or spectacular reality space, the space where reality and fantasy overlap, and the fantasy space in games. Regardless of whether these spaces are modern or supermodern, buildings are more prominent than humans. Therefore, the cityscape of Busan functions as a delivery system of tourism goods for publicity for the city. Resulting from their architectural abstraction, this geography of loss gives birth to a cityscape such that a “solitary contract” supersedes emotional bonds existing in traditional places. This essay argues that the theories of space and place may offer a useful way of interpreting the cityscape of loss embedded in non-places and the spaces of placelessness in Busan.
