목적: 본 연구는 우리나라 실정에 맞도록 번역한 Templer의 죽음불안도구를 노인에게 적용하여 도구의 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하고자 실시하였다. 방법: 본 연구는 번안된 한국형 Templer의 죽음불안도구를 검증하기 위한 방법론적 연구로서 경상북도에 거주하고 있는 65세 이상 남·여 재가 노인 203명을 대상으로 하였다. 도구의 타당도 검증을 위해 탐색적 요인분석과 신뢰도 검증을 위해 Cronbach's α와 Guttman’s split-half coefficient를 이용하였다. 결과: 본 연구를 통해 노인에게 타당도와 신뢰도가 입증된 한국형 Templer의 죽음불안도구(K-TDAS)는 13문항, 3개의 영역(죽음이 주는 의미, 죽음과 관련된 사건, 죽음의 시간)으로 확인되었으며, 요인부하량은 .43∼.86으로 나타났다. 결론: 본 연구에서 확인된 한국형 Templer의 죽음불안도구의 적절한 활용은 노인들이 죽음에 적절하게 대처하도록 돕기 위한 간호중재의 주요한 자료의 기틀을 제공할 수 있을 것이다.
Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this methodological study was to examine the validity and reliability of a translated Korean version of Templer’s death anxiety scale among older adults. Methods: The translated Korean scale was administered to 203 older people who aged over 65 years. Exploratory factor analysis was utilized to assess the factor structure of the scale. Internal consistency of the scale was determined using Cronbach's α and Guttman’s split-half coefficient. Results: Factor loadings of the scale ranged from .43 to .86. The scale showed good internal consistencies of both total scale (13 items, α=.83) and three sub-scales: meaning of death (6 items, α=.77), death-related event (5 items, α=.72), and time of death (2 items, α=.80). The concurrent validity compare with Fear of Death Scale was significant. The Cronbach's alpha and Guttman's split-half coefficient were .83 and .80, respectively. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that the Korean version of Templer’s death anxiety scale had satisfactory validity and reliability to measure death anxiety among Korean older people.
