초록

The well-known design effect decomposition model intuitively proposed by Kish is often used to evaluate the efficiency of two complex sample design features, clustering and unequal weighting. For complex sample designs involving other features such as stratification of clusters, the model includes all of the features other than unequal weighting under the design effect component due to clustering. Some extension of Kish’s model may be considered for separately evaluating the stratification scheme. However, the validation of the Kish’s model and its extension is very limited in the literature. This paper briefly review Kish’s type design effect decomposition models and empirically evaluate their effectiveness through a simulation study.
