초록

This study aimed to assess the psychological factors that influence the quality of life (QoL) of bereaved individuals following the death of a loved one. The analysis was based on a cross-sectional study design utilizing secondary data from the 2020~2022 Korea Health Panel Survey Data and focused on 253 cases observed over a three-year period. Among bereaved individuals who had lost a family member, 8.3% received psychiatric treatment, 7.5% were taking medication, and 5.9% reported suicidal thoughts. The model, which included demographic characteristics, physical factors, and mental-health factors, explained 53% of the variance in QoL. Bereaved individuals reporting a relatively higher QoL, had a positive subjective health status, and were younger than 70 years, without suicidal thoughts, engaged in physical activity, and participating in economic activities. Mental-health factors significantly influence bereaved individuals’ QoL. Demographic factors and physical conditions also affect QoL. Therefore, comprehensive social services for physical and mental-health management should be provided to bereaved individuals following the death of family members.
