자유학기제 운영에 따른 교육성과 변화 분석 - 진로성숙도, 인지적·정의적·사회적 핵심역량,학교만족도를 중심으로 -

2016학년도 전국 중학교에 진로교육을 강화하고, 다양한 방식의 수업을 적용한 자유학기제가 전면 실시되었다. 본 연구는 중학교 자유학기제 운영의 교육성과로 진로성숙도, 인지적·정의적·사회적 핵심역량 및 학교만족도를 선정하여, 자유학기제가 운영된 한학기 동안의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 측정오차를 통제하여 비교하는 잠재평균분석을 활용하였다. 본 연구는 2016학년도 2학기에 자유학기제를 운영한 남자 중학교 1개교와 여자 중학교 1개교를 편의표집하여, 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료를 사용하여 변인들 간의 상관 분석을 실시하였고, 구조방정식모형에서 집단별로 동일성 검증 절차를 거친 후, 잠재평균을 비교하였다. 잠재평균분석 결과, 자유학기제 운영에 따라 진로성숙도, 사회적 핵심역량 및 학교만족도가 유의하게 증가한 것을 확인하였다. 상대적인 효과를 살펴보기 위해 Cohen의 효과크기를 확인한 결과, 진로성숙도와 학교만족도은 중간 수준의 효과크기, 사회적 핵심역량은 작은 수준의 효과크기가 나타났다. 본 연구 결과를 바탕으로 향후 자유학기제 운영 방향에 대한 시사점 및 후속 연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.
Abstract
Korean middle school students are allowed to spend a free learning semester without tests and assessment starting in 2016. It was designed to provide middle school students with a chance to search for their future career through various kinds of job-experience activities. In the free learning semester, students only take necessary subjects like Korean, mathematics and English, and use the rest of their curriculum time for career exploration, club activities, physical training and art education. The purpose of study was to invest performance(career maturity, cognitive/affective/sociocultural core competencies, school satisfaction) of free learning semester. For this research, surveys were administered with first grade students at two middle schools. A total of 522 Korean middle school students participated in the study. The result of this study, career maturity, social-core competencies, and school satisfaction were the variables that make a significant difference between before and after free learning semester. Career maturity, social-core competencies, and school satisfaction latent mean after free learning semester were higher than that before. Career maturity and school satisfaction effect size were medium, social-core competencies effect size was small. This study proposed strategies for the successful free learning semester.
