Abstract
The origin of graphic image beginning from the fifteenth century suddenly changed in nineteenths. Both Lithography and Chromolithography were located in crowds’ visual culture, that is the popular culture. Printed visual forms, for example, posters, illustration and cartoon performed a means of visual communication deliverring information about Modernity. As soon as these working in 1870s come into sight, modern crowds absorb modern life(present). Specifically, the emergence of graphic images as visual information caused that the tradition and convention take a step backward in terms of arts. And also, could raise relation between production method and the visibility expressive. According to W. Ivins’s prints and visual communication(1958), graphic image is in ‘visual grammar’ like language. He focused on sociable message connected with sender and receiver. If we consider plurality and despicability of the graphic technology, images are not simple imitation on reality but information someone’s intention and purpose reflected. He suggested that the value of the graphic image is that ‘Knowing about the world’ and remaking about the world (representation). In other viewpoint, visual communication relies both on eyes that function and on a brain that makes sense of all the sensory information received. In relation to that point, M.Mcluhan’ The Gutenberg Galaxy researched the effect of Gutenberg’s technology in terms of both visibility and perception. That point indicated the character of the public made by printed words which can influence on self-consciousness individually or collectively. The Gutenberg Galaxy illustrates that printed words emphasized disjunct vision apart from other sensory. This subject indicates both visible conformity of vision and extension of visual forms. If this point is considered graphic images might be an automatic proliferation of visibility. J. Didi – Huberman expresses this idea when he depend on W. Ivins and M.Mcluhan’ viewpoint. In his confronting Images, graphic images are newly located in ‘informative-representation’ function. To sum up, images operate ‘functional unity’ in the world combining sensational with imaginable experience. In terms of viewpoint, graphic images reproduced mechanically can be a visual that s crowds’ unconscious like as if dream works. In Conclusion, these point out ‘psychedelic effect’ and linked on sensational approaches to audience response. Since lithography and Chroma grapy had worked in 1860s, graphic image is called for ‘Paper’s ghost’ , ‘Modern Pandora box’, ‘attention machine’. That is to say, these words imply optical unconsciousness connected with the presence of the present.
