지젝의 ‘이데올로기적 환상’ 개념에 기초한 동시대 미술에서 변형된 신체표현 사례 연구

이 연구는 지젝의 ‘이데올로기적 환상’ 개념을 독해하여 동시대 미술에서 신체를 변형시켜 무의식과 욕망을 드러내는 대표 사례를 연구함으로써 주체를 은폐하고 억압하는 이데올로기와 정신분석학적 실재의 관계를 파악하는 것을 내용으로 한다. 연구자들은 억압된 주체가 분열할 때 이데올로기에 저항 가능하다는 지젝의 이론을 바탕으로 ‘환상 횡단’이라는 주체의 행위에 주목하고 무의식과 욕망에 관한 동시대 미술의 담론을 개인적인 것에서 사회적 차원으로 확장하여 재고한다. 따라서 이 논문은 이데올로기적 환상 개념이 무의식과 욕망의 내부 메커니즘뿐만 아니라 현실과 상호작용함을 밝히고, 이를 동시대 미술에 적용하여 이데올로기에 저항하는 주체의 ‘진정한 행위’를 도출하는 것에 중점을 둔다. 이를 위해, 연구자들은 알트메이드, 샤빌, 채프먼 형제의 작품을 각각 ‘횡단적 주체’, ‘증상적 비틀림’, ‘상징체계의 교란’ 개념을 적용하여 해석하고, 동시대 미술에서 현상되는 변형된 신체표현이 개인의 무의식과 욕망뿐만 아니라 ‘이데올로기적 환상’이라는 사회정신분석학적 함축을 가짐을 제시한다.
Abstract
This study contains reading the concept of 'ideological fantasy' in Zizek and examines representative contemporary art cases which the human body is transformed to reveal the unconscious and desire, with the aim of understanding the relationship between ideology that conceals and represses the subject, and the psychoanalytic Real. Following Zizek's theory that resistance to ideology becomes possible when the repressed subject is split, we focus on the subject's act of 'traversing the fantasy' and reconsider discourse in contemporary art on unconscious and desire by expanding them from the personal to the social dimension. Thus, this study aims to reveal that the concept of ideological fantasy interacts not only with the internal mechanisms of unconscious and desire but also with reality, and applies this to interpret contemporary art works to derive the subject's 'the Act' of resisting ideology. For this, we construe the art works of Altmejd, Saville, and the Chapman brothers by applying the concepts of the 'transversal subject,' 'symptormal torsion' and 'disturbance of the symbolic order,' respectively, and suggest that the human body transformation in contemporary art has socio-psychoanalytic implications related to 'ideological fantasy' beyond merely reflecting unconscious and desire of the individual.
