This study investigated effects of participation in the musical-based physical activity program on characters of elementary school students in order to prepare basic data to activate musical programs. 120 students enrolled in an A elementary school were assigned to an experimental group who were participating in the musical-based physical activity program, whereas 120 students in a B elementary school were assigned to a control group who did not participate in a musical-based physical activity program. For data collection, we used the Character Scale for Children developed by Byun(2008), where there are eight sub-categories including sociality, activity, emotional stability, reflectiveness, confidence, independence, aggression, and hyperactivity. The results indicated that the experimental group showed higher sociality, activity, confidence, thoughtfulness, and independence than the control group. Through these results, we concluded that the musical-based physical activity program has positive effects on characters of these participants.
