Abstract
In a situation where the reliability of information is declining due to the indiscriminate production and spread of information through online media, it is very important to accurately identify and respond to the patterns of information diffusion. However, previous studies on the diffusion of information have only partially analyzed the characteristics of online media or the characteristics of information. So, research that considers the differences in diffusion patterns according to the characteristics of information is not enough. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to distinguish the characteristics of information by various fields and to analyze the differences in information diffusion online comprehensively. As a result of the empirical analysis, the diffusion models for 32 keywords in the fields of politics, society, environment, and culture are all statistically significant, and the estimated innovation coefficients and imitation coefficients have a positive relationship. As a result of analyzing the effect of data characteristics on the diffusion of information, all information characteristics affected the innovation coefficients and imitation coefficients. In detail, the diffusion coefficient in the field of politics showed a significant difference from other fields, and the values of the innovation coefficients and imitation coefficients increased as keywords were limited to specific events or the data provision cycle was shorter. This study is meaningful in that it empirically estimates the diffusion pattern of information online, and can be utilized to derive implications for effective information creation and use in the future.
